What does an AI enablement lead do?

Last updated 23 Oct 2026 · 21 live roles

An AI enablement lead makes sure people across a company use AI tools well and safely. They run training, set up a network of AI champions, write simple how-to guides and usage rules, help teams find good uses for tools such as Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT Enterprise, and track whether usage and confidence are going up. Most of the work is with people, and there is little or no coding.

Questions

Do you need to code to be an AI enablement lead?

No. The work is training, change and communication. You need to be confident with the AI tools your company uses and able to explain them in plain language, but you don't build models or write production code.

What is the difference between AI enablement and AI adoption?

Employers use the two words for nearly the same job. Enablement often includes setting up the tools, guides and rules; adoption focuses more on getting people to use them and measuring it. Many ads use both.

Who hires AI enablement leads?

Large employers rolling out tools like Microsoft Copilot across many staff: law firms, banks, insurers, pharmaceutical companies, consultancies, public bodies and charities.
